This short course is designed to introduce students to entrepreneurship by developing an entrepreneurial mindset, basic business skills, and practical knowledge needed to start and manage small ventures.

This course is fully online and can be completed at the matriculants pace, during this course you will learn how to come up with business ideas and how to start successful businesses in South Africa. You will work closely with your mentor and our small business owner volunteers who will help you as you develop your business. 10 of the best business ideas in the whole program will receive a R5000 grant from GRADDY (PTY) LTD to be used towards starting the business.
This module focuses on what entrepreneurship is, why it matters, and how to develop an entrepreneurial way of thinking. Students learn about initiative, creativity, resilience, and problem-solving.
In this module, students learn how to identify problems, spot opportunities, and turn ideas into viable business concepts. We also explore market needs, target customers, and basic idea validation.
This module introduces students to simple business planning concepts, including defining a product or service, pricing, basic budgeting, and understanding costs and income.
Here the focus is on basic marketing principles, branding, customer communication, and using digital platforms and social media responsibly to promote a small business or idea.
This module covers basic financial literacy for entrepreneurs, including managing money, keeping simple records, understanding profit, and operating ethically and responsibly.
To receive a certificate of participation, students will also be required to test their business ideas or entrepreneurial skills through practical activities and projects integrated into the Gap Year program.
